Rockville, MD – July 5, 2012 – Turning Point Global Solutions, a software engineering and Information Technology (IT) professional services firm, announced that it was awarded a contract by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Center for Program Integrity (CPI) to help reduce fraud, waste, abuse, and errors in the Medicare program through the implementation of an Automated Provider Screening solution.

“Detecting and preventing health care fraud is one of the top priorities for the Federal government, and we are pleased be part of this important effort,” explained Michael Edwards, TurningPoint’s Vice President of Federal Delivery.

CMS CPI has launched the National Fraud Prevention Program (NFPP), of which this contract initiative is a key component, is focused on developing an enhanced process and set of tools for provider enrollment and registration that provide a long-term, sustainable approach and leverages leading edge technologies to identify fraudulent providers before they can get in the system.

TurningPoint will deliver automated and expanded screening mechanisms to verify and validate enrollment information prior to enrolling every Part A and B provider or supplier and then continuously through the tenure of that provider’s enrollment in Medicare.  TurningPoint’s solution involves the integrated use of customized Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) technology, an Expert System based Scoring Engine, and IBM’s Master Data Management (MDM) application to merge, individualize, normalize, standardize, augment, and assign a Risk Score to provider enrollment data.

“TurningPoint’s experience with the Medicare program as well as our proven successes in data verification and validation are critical for this work,” added Mr. Edwards.

The contract includes a base year and four one-year option periods.  The total value of the contract, including all option periods, is estimated at over $40 million.
