Ride Allegheny is an annual four day, 320 mile cycling ride from Pittsburgh, PA to Gaithersburg, MD. Riders support veterans by raising money from private and corporate sponsors to benefit Operation Second Chance, which is a nonprofit dedicated to helping injured veterans readjust to civilian life.

The first ride involved a group of five local friends, but it has grown to become an effective and fun fundraising activity. As founder Clark Wagner observed, “What started as an adventure became a cause, the challenge of just finishing the ride took on a far more important meaning. The friendships we gain from fellow riders and support we provide to true Amercian Heroes has made this annual event very special.”

TurningPoint Vice President of Commercial Practice, Silvio Renzi, is a member of the ride’s planning committee, and has enjoyed participating in the ride for the past 5 years. “Ride Allegheny is an exceptional cause and a great way to show our appreciation for all of the sacrifices that our veterans have made for us.” said David Hughes, Managing Partner and Co-Founder at TurningPoint, “TurningPoint is thrilled for this opportunity to give back and to support these heroes.”

While the initial Ride Allegheny in 2001 had just 5 riders, the event has expanded substantially, with 85 riders participating in this year’s event. To date, Ride Allegheny has raised over $1 M for Operation Second Chance.
